A proprietary synthetic amber — warmer and more animalic than typical amber bases, with a honeyed sweetness and a faint ambergris-like dryness. Modern specialty chemical.
On a blotter the opening is sweet, honeyed, balsamic — thick but not heavy. There is a soft, almost powdery quality in the first minutes, like warm beeswax poured over resin. A faint mineral dryness keeps it from reading as purely sweet.
After an hour the animalic character emerges. Not sharp or funky — more like the warm, slightly salty smell of skin after a long day. The honeyed sweetness is still there but it has company now: something drier, more complex, faintly saline.
On skin overnight: warm, dry, quietly persistent. The sweetness is a ghost. What dominates is a clean, musky dryness with just enough resinous warmth to read as "amber" rather than "musk." The material has excellent longevity — still perceptible after 24 hours.

The Full Story
Anthamber is a proprietary synthetic ingredient designed to replicate and extend the warm, balsamic character of natural amber accords. It is a single material (or closely guarded blend), not a natural extract. Its value to perfumers is consistency: natural amber accords require careful balancing of multiple materials (labdanum, benzoin, vanilla, cistus), while Anthamber delivers a similar effect from one bottle.
The material leans warmer and more animalic than most amber synthetics. There is a honeyed sweetness in the opening, a resinous mid-section, and a dry, faintly ambergris-like trail that separates it from softer amber bases. This animalic edge makes it useful in compositions that need amber warmth without amber softness.
