The Full Story

Helional (CAS 1205-17-0, alpha-methyl-1,3-benzodioxole-5-propionaldehyde) is a synthetic aldehyde with fresh, green-floral, slightly ozonic character. A morning-hayfield quality: wet grass in morning sun with cyclamen-like florality.

Structurally related to heliotropin but very different scent: helional is fresh-green-aquatic while heliotropin is warm-sweet.

Helional and heliotropin share the same benzodioxole backbone but smell completely different: helional is fresh-green while heliotropin is warm-sweet. Side-chain modifications redirect olfactory character entirely.
