Scent

Floral, muguet-adjacent, soft and bright. On a blotter, it barely registers. On skin and in composition, it opens up into a luminous, slightly green floral with muguet and cyclamen character. This blotter-to-skin transformation is its defining trait. Clean, restrained, with no heavy or indolic qualities.

The Full Story

Its chemical name is (S,E)-3,7,11-trimethyldodeca-6,10-dien-1-ol (C15H28O). The compound occurs naturally in cyclamen flowers (Cyclamen persicum and C. purpurascens) and their hybrids, making it 'nature-identical' despite its synthetic production.

Biocyclamol's most unusual property is its behavior: subtle and almost invisible on a blotter strip, it comes alive in composition and on skin, introducing a long-lasting, bright, restrained floral note. This context-dependent quality makes it deceptive in evaluation but valuable in formulation.

Despite being derived from sugarcane rather than extracted from actual cyclamen flowers, it is classified as nature-identical due to its presence in the natural flower.

Did You Know?

Did you know?
Biocyclamol is one of the few synthetic molecules that barely smells on a blotter but blooms beautifully on skin. Perfumers who evaluate it only on paper risk dismissing it -- its full character only emerges in the warmth of a living composition.

In Perfumery

Biocyclamol functions as a floral modifier and sustainability-forward muguet building block. Its bio-based and biodegradable credentials make it valuable for natural-positioning and clean-beauty formulations. Best evaluated in composition rather than on a blotter.
