The Full Story

Marble is a mineral, not a botanical — calcite (CaCO₃) and dolomite (CaMg(CO₃)₂) compressed and metamorphosed over geological time. It has, strictly, no smell: pure calcium carbonate is non-volatile and odourless at room temperature. The 'marble' note in fragrance is a conceptual accord — built to evoke the cold, faintly dusty, slightly mineral-metallic impression of touching a marble surface in a quiet room.

This note in Première Peau. Nuit Elastique. Sample all seven extraits in the Discovery Set.

Reconstruction

Marble accords typically lean on cool-mineral materials: ambrette seed for a powdery-mineral lift, iris absolute for cold-floral depth, vetiver for earth-stone undertow, and a touch of synthetic cucumber-fresh notes (Helional, melonal) for the damp-cool edge. Sometimes a trace metallic note — Aldron, methyl epijasmonate — adds the faint copper-cold signal.

Extraction & Chemistry

Extraction method: Not a naturally extracted material. The note is a perfumery reconstruction or concept accord.

Molecular FormulaN/A — marble (CaCO₃) is a metamorphic rock; its scent in perfumery is an abstract impression of cool, mineral, stony notes
CAS NumberN/A — marble is a mineral olfactory descriptor, not a single chemical

In Perfumery

Marble functions as a concept or fantasy note in modern fragrance compositions. Not derived from a single natural extraction; the impression is built from multiple materials.
