Amber (or ambery) is one of the primary fragrance families. It groups compositions built around warm, resinous, balsamic, and spiced materials: benzoin, labdanum, vanilla, tonka bean, incense, cinnamon, clove, and animalic notes.

The family was codified in the early 20th century. Some modern perfumers prefer the term ambery. Amber compositions favor heavy base notes, low volatility, and skin-clinging sillage.

Sub-families include: floral-amber, spicy-amber, woody-amber, and gourmand-amber.
