A fruity-tropical cocktail accord built on peach, cranberry, orange juice, and a faint vodka-clean edge. In perfumery, Sex on the Beach translates as a bright, juicy, slightly tart fruity-gourmand note — summer trapped in a glass, minus the hangover.

The Full Story
Sex on the Beach is a cocktail-inspired fragrance accord, not a raw material. The drink — vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice, cranberry juice — was codified in the 1980s as a beach-bar standard. Its translation into perfumery captures the olfactory signature: the fuzzy sweetness of ripe peach, the sharp tartness of cranberry, the bright citric burst of fresh-squeezed orange, and a barely perceptible clean-mineral undertone that stands in for the vodka.
The accord is typically constructed from gamma-decalactone (peach lactone, CAS 706-14-9), ethyl maltol (caramelised sweetness), cis-3-hexenyl acetate (green-fruity), limonene (orange peel), and a cranberry-type accord built on damascenone, furaneol, and trace berry aldehydes. The result sits in the fruity-gourmand space — sweet without being cloying, tart enough to maintain freshness.
In fine fragrance, cocktail-inspired accords gained traction in the 2010s as the gourmand category expanded beyond vanilla and chocolate. The Sex on the Beach accord appears in flankers, limited editions, and niche houses looking to subvert traditional perfumery with something deliberately fun.

In Perfumery
Sex on the Beach functions as a fruity heart accord — a burst of peach-cranberry brightness that adds juiciness and warmth to compositions. It works with white florals (tuberose, tiare), tropical notes (coconut, frangipani), and light musks. The Discovery Set (/products/premiere-peau-discovery-set) spans seven compositions across every olfactive family.
