Jasmine perfume splits into two flowers. Jasminum grandiflorum is the fuller, fruitier absolute of Grasse and Egypt; Jasminum sambac is smaller, greener and sharper, picked at night because the flower releases most of its indole after dark. Indole is the molecule that makes a real jasmine smell animal rather than pretty, and it is what most commercial jasmine perfumes scrub out.

Nuit Elastique is the Premiere Peau jasmine perfume, a 20 percent extrait de parfum by Ugo Charron and the winner of the Art and Olfaction Awards 2026 in the independent category. Sambac and grandiflorum are pushed past indole into a latex accord and salted with black olive. It is a jasmine that refuses to behave.
