The Full Story

Macadamia flower (Macadamia integrifolia) is a fantasy note in perfumery. The cream to pink flower racemes of the macadamia tree are pollinated by bees and produce a subtle, honeyed scent. The tree is native to the subtropical rainforests of eastern Australia and was later extensively planted in Hawaii.

The perfumery accord interprets the flower as a delicate honey-floral with a nutty warmth referencing the famous nut. A green-waxy quality from the tree's tough, glossy leaves adds an undertone. The note sits between orange blossom and almond blossom in character: sweeter than the latter, less heady than the former.

In composition, macadamia flower functions as a heart modifier in tropical, honey-floral, and Australian-themed compositions. It provides a gentle floral sweetness with a particular nutty undertone.
