Faint, sweet-green, honeyed-tropical. Not distinctive enough to identify blind — a general 'tropical tree in bloom' impression. Green stems, warm air, distant sweetness.

The Full Story

Cashew flowers (Anacardium occidentale) are small, pink-white blooms appearing in loose terminal panicles. Their scent is faint, sweet, and faintly honeyed with a green undertone.

No commercial extraction exists. The fantasy note imagines the tropical tree in bloom — sweet-green, warm, with a distant nuttiness anticipating the cashew nut. Construction uses light tropical-honeyed florals and green elements.

The cashew tree is native to northeastern Brazil. The 'cashew apple' (the fruit's swollen stem) is aromatic but not common in perfumery. The nut grows hanging below this pseudofruit — one of botany's strangest arrangements.

Did You Know?

Did you know?
Each cashew tree produces only one nut per fruit — making cashews labor-intensive. The shell contains anacardic acid (urushiol-related, like poison ivy), which is why cashews are never sold in-shell. Workers who shell cashews by hand often develop chemical burns.
