Heliotropin (piperonal, CAS 120-57-0) is a benzodioxole aldehyde. Combines benzaldehyde-like almond with vanillin-like sweetness and cherry undertone.

Foundation of powdery-sweet family in perfumery. Related to helional structurally but completely different scent.
