The Full Story

Litchi blossom (Litchi chinens is) is a fantasy note in perfumery. The small yellowish-green flowers of the lychee tree produce a honey-like nectar scent that attracts bees, but the fragrance is subtle and quite different from the particular rosewater-grape flavor of the fru it.

The perfumery accord bridges the floral and fruity: a rose-like sweetness tempered by tropical transparency and a honeyed quality from the nectar associati on. It is lighter and more clean than the lychee fru it note, which tends toward a rosy-grape sweetness. The blossom accord stays in transparent floral territory.

In composition, litchi blossom functions as a heart modifier in light floral, tropical, and fruity-floral compositions. It provides an exotic floral quality without the heaviness of jasmine or tuberose. The note suggests tropical orchards in bloom rather than fruit markets.
