Scent

Intensely earthy and green. The impression is atmospheric rather than material -- you smell a forest after rain, not a specific ingredient. Mossy, damp, slightly mineral. More green and diffusive than geosmin (which is purely earthy-beetroot). Less heavy than patchouli earth, more alive and breathing.

The Full Story

It delivers a powerful, naturalistic earthy-green odor that captures the petrichor quality -- the smell of rain on dry earth -- with remarkable precision.

The molecule is 54% bio-based and is designed for use at trace levels, where it adds naturalness and diffusion to floral, green, and woody compositions. It is exceptionally potent: even small additions create a convincing impression of wet soil, damp forest floor, and morning dew.

Humus Ether occupies a rarefied niche in perfumery. While earthy notes are common in patchouli and vetiver, Humus Ether provides a distinctly different earthiness -- lighter, greener, more atmospheric. It smells like a place rather than a substance.

In Perfumery

Humus Ether functions as a trace modifier and naturalizer. Used at very low concentrations (0.01-0.5%) to add earthy, petrichor-like naturalness to floral, green, woody, and mossy compositions. Particularly effective in forest accords and rain-themed fragrances. Its stability makes it suitable for even aggressive media like acidic cleaners and antiperspirants.
