Scent

Intensely green, raw, sappy-vegetal, with a faintly fruity undertone. More powerful than galbanum, more raw than violet leaf. Like crushing a thick green stem — sappy, sharp, vegetal, alive. At proper dilution, it provides a clean, fresh greenness that lifts compositions.

The Full Story

Dynascone is a synthetic green-floral molecule in the damascone family — structurally related to alpha-damascone and beta-damascone but with a distinctly greener, more powerful character. It provides a raw, vegetal, slightly fruity greenness at extremely low concentrations.

The damascone family of molecules is critical in contemporary use: beta-damascone provides a fruity-rosy character; alpha-damascone is more woody-fruity; Dynascone extends the family into greener, more powerful territory. All share a basic ionone-type skeleton.

Dynascone's power is both its strength and its challenge — it is so potent that typical usage rates are below 0.1% of a formula. Overuse produces an aggressive, overpowering greenness.

In formulation, Dynascone functions as a green top-to-heart modifier providing raw, vegetal freshness.

Did You Know?

Did you know?
The damascone family of molecules was named after the Damask rose (Rosa damascena) where alpha-damascone was first identified — but these molecules now appear in compositions far removed from rose, including green, fruity, and woody fragrances.

In Perfumery

Dynascone is a synthetic green molecule in the damascone family. Functions as a powerful green top-to-heart modifier at micro-dosages (below 0.1%). Provides raw, vegetal freshness. Used in green, chypre, and modern compositions needing vegetal lift. Must be dosed carefully — overwhelming at excess.
